Education

  As of 2017 there are 101 kindergartens (including 29 public funded ones); 129 public schools, including 93 primary schools, 23 middle schools, 4 nine-year comprehensive schools, 4 high schools, 5 comprehensive secondary schools; 49 private-funded primary and secondary schools; 1 special education school; 3 secondary vocational-technical schools, and 10 general higher education institutions.

 

  Pre-school education development in the public spirit of benefiting all. The final effort to complete the second 3-year improvement plan for pre-school education has made further headway, and the District now has 79 compliant kindergartens, accounting for 76%; 29 public kindergartens, accounting for 27.9%, and 37 inclusive kindergartens, accounting for 35.6%.

 

  Balanced and high quality advance of compulsory education. With the successful completion of the standardized school construction project and the school safety project, 100% of public schools and 81.6% of private schools for compulsory education are now rated as standard schools, and the allocation of quality compulsory education resources has been constantly optimized. In the 12th Five-Year Plan period, Huadu became one of the first counties in Guangdong that were designated as China Balanced Compulsory Education Development County after it successfully passed the relevant national inspection, and the inspection for Guangdong Star District in Promoting Education Modernization.

 

  Leap-forward development of high school education. The District witnessed a breakthrough in the 2016 National College Entrance Exam: number of examinees who reached the threshold score for Tier 1 universities exceeded 400 for the first time, with a record high of 493, representing an increase of 53.6%. 2301 examinees reached the threshold for Tier 2 universities, and 3654 crossed the line for colleges of Special-A level or above. At every tier, the number of eligible candidates was higher than what the District ever saw in its past performance in National College Entrance Exam. The District currently has 9 provincial or city level high (comprehensive secondary) schools, and 3 national model regular senior high schools. During the 2016 Guangzhou appraisal of high school work on graduation classes, 6 high schools from the District were awarded first prizes, and 2 received second prizes, also the best performance ever.

 

  High quality development of privately run education. The District has now 49 privately-run schools, including 40 standard schools of compulsory education, and 4 city-level specialty schools. By fully utilizing the unique geographic advantages and favorite development prospect of the District, we introduce quality educational resources to improve our privately-run schools as a whole.

 

  Steady development of community education. We take surefooted steps to provide all kinds of community education services, instruct community colleges to assist schools of towns and streets to carry out community education, and hold lifelong learning awareness weeks.
