Medical and Healthcare

  As of 2016 Huadu District has 469 medical and health institutions of various kinds, including 2 tertiary hospitals, 1 Class A secondary hospital, 1 secondary nursing homes, 8 town-level hospitals (health centers), 6 government-sponsored community health service centers, 197 rural health centers (including their branches), 2 privately-run general hospitals, 2 privately-run specialized hospitals, 3 privately-run community health centers, 2 employees' hospital, 33 factory/school health stations, 1 sanatorium, and 211 other health-care facilities (outpatient departments and clinics).There are 3921 beds in all hospitals and health facilities of the District.

  

  The public expenditure in health care was 742.91 million yuan in 2016, representing a 35% increase over the previous year. All medical and health institutions of the District are in smooth operation, with such indicators as total number of outpatients, total number of inpatients, and total revenue reaching 5.98 million, 127,700, and 2.2192866 billion yuan, 2.52%, 1.46 %, and 11.14% more than the year 2015 respectively.

  

  【Building a talent pool for healthcare】 Efforts were made in all aspects to promote the cultivation project of high-end healthcare talents: 11 high-end or much needed healthcare talents from other places of the country were attracted to the District; 16 were awarded the title of famous doctor of the District; now there are 28 medical and healthcare subject leaders, and 23 high potential reserves.

  

  【Rural healthcare】 Further promotion of "Visit Doctor for One Yuan" project. Total visits of doctors by villagers under the project reached 1,051,500, the accumulated cost of medicines and medical supplies involved was 19.4311 million yuan, and a total of 19.4311 million yuan was saved for rural residents. Expenditure per capita for medicines and medical supplies was 18.47 yuan; and 93.4% of the villagers were satisfied with the services provided by health stations under the project. The village health stations launched in July a trial run of the mode that connected the Project with medical insurance and POS card payment. From July to December, the village health stations received 103,900 payments through POS system, and the total amount of drug reimbursement under medical insurance reached 1.4906 million. In 2016 town hospitals began to renovate buildings of their health stations; and 196 health stations of the District have installed unified logo sign. Town hospitals or community health centers have entered into contracts with 128855 villagers or residents to provide family doctor services, covering 13.21% of the population, and 346180 person-time services have been offered to the priority groups.

  

  【Traditional Chinese Medicine】 Guangzhou Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine Hospital has been awarded 3 national patents for its utility models, and owns up to 20 proprietary preparations. 7 of these preparations are listed on Guangdong Hospital Preparation Specifications, and 2 are named as Guangzhou Quality Medicine Preparation. Huashan Town Hospital and Xinhua Community Health Center have been accepted into the campaign of Guangzhou to build towns and streets with traditional Chinese medicine characteristics.

  

  【Health education】 In 2016 alone, more than 894 lectures on prevention of common diseases and frequent diseases were provided by medical and health institutions, benefiting 88243 attendants; 405 activities of free medical service and consultation were held in the context of health theme days, and awareness campaigns on prevention of major diseases and building of healthy city, registering 44919 participations; 652615 copies of promotional materials were handed out, and 598 billboards were set up; 9 District-level trainings on health education were held for 510 trainees. 2 healthy hospitals and 5 healthy villages were successfully created.

  

  【Performance of Red Cross Society】 A Red Cross emergency response team was created; 30 sessions of training were held for near 2000 trainees. The District now has a volunteer service team of about 421 members for non-remunerated blood donation, and has successfully collected hematopoietic stem cell samples from about 50 persons. The District witnessed 13941 non-remunerated blood donations, which covered 100% of the 4.23 million ml clinical use of blood.

  

  The campaign of "From Red Cross with Love" continued, and brought to 400 extremely poor families and elderly people who live alone monetary gifts and such daily supplies as food, cooking oil, and clothes.
