The former residence is positioned
in Guanlu Village Xinhua Town Huadu District.
It was renovated in 1962 and since has been
open to visitors. It is one the national important
cultural relic protection units and a municipal
patriotism educational base.
| 1. The library |
| The library was where Hong
Xiuquan read and wrote when he was a child.
The place was called private class then.
Xiuquan went to school at seven and after
three years of schooling he was familiar
with "the Four Books" and "the Five Classics".
At twelve, he attended the village test
and ranked the first called "Yuansheng".
At fifteen, he attended the county examination
and won the first prize again called "Gongsheng".
From 18 on, he tried to pass the provincial
examination in Guangzhou. The testing officials
were corrupted. Xiuquan;s family was poor
and he was not willing to bribe the officials.
As a result, he failed four times although
he was good at his works. Although he failed
time and again, the fellow villagers believed
he was a talent. So he was invited to be
a teacher for the library where he taught
as well as learned. |

| 2. The Former Residence
of Hong Xiuquan |
| The clay brick house in the
plot below is the former residence of Hong
Xiuquan. He lived here with his parents
and his sister and three brothers.. The
three brothers and the sister took part
in the Peaceful Heaven Kingdom Uprising
later. Hanging on the wall are portraits
of Hong Xiuquan's grand grand parents. The
handwriting beneath was given by Hong Xiuquan.

| 3. Hong Clan Temple |
| The Hong Clan Temple was rebuilt
at the end of the Qing Dynasty. Stocked
in the temple was a
in which Hong's ancestors were recorded.
The Hua County ancestor moved here from
Jiaying town of Mei County, Guangdong Province.
There had been six generations till Hong
Xiuquan. According to history book, after
the Peaceful Heaven Kingdom failed, Hong
Xiuquan died with illness and the rest of
the whole family were killed by the government
of Qing Dynasty. |

| 4. The Memorial of
Hong Xiuquan |
| The Memorial of Hong Xiuquan
was established in 1991 on Xinhua Road of
Xinhua Town. That was the 140th anniversary
of the Peaceful Heaven Kingdom Uprising.
The memorial is a three story imitated ancient
building. Exhibited are the history of the
Peaceful Heaven Kingdom Uprising led by
Hong Xiuquan. There is one bronze statue
and a white marble statue of Hong Xiuquan
in the memorial. |
