Today’s Huadu News: How is the resettlement zone for Guangzhou North Railway Station Comprehensive Transport Hub progressing, which has been attracting attention from all fabrics of the society, especially those 3600 households to be relocated? When can they move into their new houses? We just contacted China Construction Fourth Engineering Division Corp. Ltd., construction contractor of the project, to learn about the latest development. 20 of 26 buildings have reached the datum level, which means the part under the ground part has been completed, and the part above begins, and that is when we can see the building rising up story by story. The highest building now in Plot A is now 24 stories high; and all buildings will be topped off in this May, and part of them can be delivered at the end of the year.
Oct. 28, 2017 witnessed the kick-off of the construction of the resettlement zone for Guangzhou North Railway Station Comprehensive Transport Hub. The zone is located by Tiangui Road; west of Sunac Cultural Tourism City, north of Pingbu Avenue, south of Yong’an Road, and east of Jianshe North Road.Divided into four plots, A, B, C, and D, the 190,000 m2of land sets aside 897,000 m2for resident buildings and supporting public buildings, on which 26 buildings, with 3 underground floors, will be built. The resettlement zone has clearly defined purpose, beautiful surroundings, complete supporting facilities, and good accessibility. Hospital, school, park, youth and children's palace, music hall, gymnasium, and shopping mall can be found around the zone, which will greatly improve livability of the zone, commercial value of the land, and energy of the city.
According to First Construction Co., Ltd of China Fourth Construction Bureau Guangzhou Company’s project team for the settlement zone, a gross building area of 890,000 plus m2equals to 125 football fields, 2119 basketball courts, and 10888 badminton courts. Located in Changgang Village at Huacheng Street, the project’s site has a circumference of 3 km, and it takes 30,000 steps to walk around, making it the largest EPC housing project the Bureau ever had, and also the largest synchronized construction project of Guangzhou.
As an important livelihood project of Huadu District, the project has been a focus of attention of the District government and villagers. The secretary of the CPC Huadu District Committee was presented at the starting ceremony; the Transportation Bureau has led multiple visits to the site to inspect and provide guidance to the project, and sent a merit recognition letter on Dec. 6 last year to praise the dedicated project team for completing the milestones of the project in an efficient, high quality, and safe manner.
The project team has been taking the work seriously since the first pile was driven. There were 142 piling rigs, 4 rotary drill rigs, and 280 workers deployed for foundation construction. 3182 piles were successfully driven, at a speed of 318 piles a month. However, the work was not without difficulties, especially for those last 7 piles that were situated in an extremely large karst cave. The cave is a half-filled one with abundant oblique rocks, making it difficult for traditional piling rigs to work; and therefore casing rotator was employed, which doesn’t require mud protection and has excellent cutting power. It completed the job hands down, and cut the work duration by 2 months.
Since the beginning of the project, 49 large equipment, including 15 tower cranes, and 34 construction elevators to ensure smooth progress. Large equipment has now become the key to a successful project. It is by no means easy to excavate 1.8 million CBM earth in frequent summer rains in Guangzhou, but the team managed to do it in just 8 months, due to scientific planning and the brilliant strategy of simultaneous progress at multiple points. Last September, more than 60 workers went all out to complete a 5500 m2 basement in 35 days, meeting the first datum level milestone of the project. The construction time from basement floor to the datum level was 30% ahead of normal schedule.
The project team paid great attention to green construction, and succeeded in managing an orderly and pleasant work site as large as this. The credit mainly goes to 6 on-site dust detectors and the sprinkling of water on roadsaround the site up to 8 times a day using a 5860 meters around-the-site sprinkler system, which combined with the 2080 meters of outer racks, is long enough to circle a football field 20 times. Efforts in this regards have received praises from the owner. The project has now passed the review for recognition as an Exemplar Work Site of Safe and Green Construction in Guangzhou.
The project manager said that, the project, as the biggest livelihood project in Huadu District, is now in a stage where quality and fast construction is carried out in all fronts; and that with all-dimensional scientific planning and 100% commitment, they will do their best to guard the hope of the 890,000 m2land and hand over beautiful homes to 3600 village householdsby the end of 2020.
