Guangzhou Spring Thunder Initiative Kick-off and Alibaba Full Platform Promotion Meeting Held, a Hundred Companies Participated the Event at Huadu Sub-venue
Today's Huadu News: On July 22, a meeting was jointly held by Guangzhou Bureau of Commerce and Alibaba at the conference center of the Poly Skyline Plaza in Haizhu District for the launch of Guangzhou’s Spring Thunder Initiative and the promotion of Alibaba platform. The event was conducted by means of video conference, with one sub-venue in each district of the city. The sub-venue in 2025 Industrial Park at Fenghuang Nan Road, Huadu District witnessed the participation of relevant responsible persons from District Bureau of Science, Industry, Commerce and Information Technology, District SME Promotion Association, and District E-commerce Association, and representatives of 100 enterprises intending to cooperate with Alibaba.
It has been learned that the purpose of this event, which is part of the effort to implement Guangdong Provincial Government’s instruction on promoting “new consumption” and “stabilizing foreign trade”, is to further deepen the strategic cooperation between the Guangzhou Municipal Government and Alibaba Group, giving full play to the Alibaba’s strong suits in data, market, capital and digitalization to comprehensively help enterprises in Guangzhou resist the impact of the pandemic and to promote the high-quality development of local economy and trade.
According to Guangzhou Bureau of Commerce, as a national central city where e-commerce platforms are growing by leaps and bounds, Guangzhou will be the core engine for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Brick-and-mortar economy has suffered greatly from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. And traditional business is moving online for development. While at the same time, Alibaba as a global e-commerce company has been helping small and medium-sized enterprises to break through, go beyond Guangdong and even China, which contributes to the goals of expanding domestic demand and stabilizing foreign trade. The launch of the Spring Thunder Initiative will provide Guangzhou enterprises with various channel and mode options, it will help them to resume business, explore new markets as soon as possible, expedite digital upgrade of their production and sales systems, and find "opportunities" in the "crisis", and eventually it will realize the beneficial interaction between domestic and foreign trade.
During the event, an agreement was signed by the Guangzhou government and Alibaba Group for the Spring Thunder Initiative. At the witness of Gao Yuyue, Deputy Secretary-General of the Municipal Government, Liu Nan, General Manager of the Southern China Region of the Strategic Development Department of Alibaba Group, and Wei Min, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Commerce, among others, the Spring Thunder Initiative was officially launched.
Also at the meeting, introductions were given by relevant companies in various aspects, including the 1688 factory support plan, Taobao’s quality manufacturing in China, building of distribution channels for Taobao platform, 2020 digital reconstruction of cross-border trade, AliExpress’s across-board help for overseas expansion of brands, Tmall and Taobao helping sellers explore overseas markets, LAZADA, and how Taobao merchants can capitalize on live broadcasting. After the promotion section, companies present interacted with relevant platforms.
