Eight popular science bases were opened to offer ten series of colorful activities

　　On May 20, the 2023 Huadu Science and Technology Activity Week was launched at Meihua Aerospace Science Popularization Base. Guided by Guangzhou Science and Technology Bureau, CPC Huadu Committee and Huadu District Government, and organized by the District Bureau of Science, Industry, Commerce and Information Technology, the District Education Bureau, District Publicity Department of CPC Huadu Committee, District Bureau of Education, District Bureau of Hygiene and Health, and District Science and Technology Association, the event aims to accelerate the implementation of innovation-driven development strategies, showcase excellent science and technology popularization projects, highlight the "power of Huadu" that has achieved high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology, and stimulate the enthusiasm of innovation and creativity in the whole society. On the same day, Huadu District High-tech Enterprise Association, the first district-level branch of Guangzhou High-tech Enterprise Association, was officially established with a plaque unveiling ceremony. Meihua Aerospace Science Popularization Base was also officially opened to the public.

　　"Love and advocate science"

　　The 2023 Huadu District Science and Technology Activity Week under the theme of “Love and Advocate Science “will last from May 20 to May 31, in which 8 major science popularization bases in the District, including the Guangzhou Experimental Station of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, opened together, and 10 series of rich and colorful activities such as “Science Popularization Night for Guangzhou Stucco Relief” were presented. Held at the same time with the launching ceremony was the Huadu District Science and Technology Innovation Achievements Exhibition, which was dedicated to the scientific and technological innovation achievements in key areas such as meta-universe, medicine and health, high-end equipment, and new materials; 18 enterprises, including Guangdong Meihua Aviation Technology Co., Ltd, whose achievements had high scientific and technological content, good display effect, strong sense of scientific and technological interaction, and wide scientific popularization reach, were selected to participate in the exhibition to show the good image of Huadu as a "District based on intelligent manufacturing".

　　Honorary plaques of "Excellent Unit of Huadu District Science and Technology Innovation 2023" were awarded to 23 scientific and technological innovation entities, covering a wide range from owners of projects of provincial key R&D areas approved in 2022, and provincial engineering center, winners of provincial science and technology progress awards, seed unicorn innovation enterprises, to Guangzhou top 100 hard technology enterprise in cultivation, and excellent incubators. The District People's Hospital gave a speech themed on "Smart Healthcare, Shared Health", demonstrating the hospital's achievements in scientific and technological innovation, in information construction, and in science popularization, as well as the improvement of diagnosis and treatment and medical services brought by high technology.

　　Representative of front-line scientific and technological workers, science and technology experts, science popularization experts, and technical experts in key enterprises from the District vigorously promoted the spirit of scientists in round-table dialogues, and discussed how to promote integration of the spirit of scientists into various scientific and technological activities, and urge the formation of a strong atmosphere of respecting knowledge, innovation and talent in the whole society.

　　In recent years, Huadu District has made concerted efforts to promote self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology, seeing the increase of innovation entities in both quantity and quality, the first breakthrough in national incubator, the constant improvement of high-level technological innovation platforms and scientific and technological innovation service systems, and the best ever result of Huadu in science popularization and interpretation competition. As of 2022, Huadu had 1,031 registered technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises and 881 existing high-tech enterprises, both reaching a record high with their total number exceeding 1,000 and 800 for the first time respectively; Guangzhou Airport Crowd Innovation Space was recognized as a filed national crowd innovation space, CETC Potevio was recognized as a company with municipal high-level enterprise research institute, 6 engineering technology research centers were awarded the title of Guangdong Engineering Technology Research Center, and Huadu become home to the second technology broker station of Guangdong Academy of Sciences; and in this year’s science popularization and interpretation competition, a contestant from Huadu District won the first place in the Guangzhou Youth group.
