An event with the title of "Rejuvenating old factories to drive the future" was held in Huadu to celebrate the signing of strategic cooperation contract for the Greater Bay Area Car Park & Car Modification Industrial Base Project. Huadu District signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holdings Group (hereinafter referred to as "GIIHG") and Goldenport Automotive Culture Development (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Goldenport Enterprise"), planning to introduce international car sports events and high-end brands of car modification in Huadu, build four major industrial systems of motorsport races, car testing and data operation and maintenance, car-related entertainment, and personalized customization and modification of car, and create the first motorsport aftermarket industrial base in China and the first production, business and tourism complex themed on motorsport in the Greater Bay Area.

Relevant leaders of Guangzhou City and Huadu District, representatives of FIA World Rallycross Championship and other related events, as well as relevant persons-in-charge of car modification industry enterprises and industry experts attended the launching ceremony and witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements by enterprises of projects in the base. By jointly pressing down the starting lever, the leaders and guests announce the official launch of the Greater Bay Area Car Park & Car Modification Industry Base.

"Embroidering" the way to new vitality of an old city

Huadu District has continued in recent years to actively explore the topic of old city renewal and transformation, and is committed to refined city management the same way an "embroideress" at work, and injecting new momentum into the old city with high-quality industrial investment. The Greater Bay Area Car Park & Car Modification Industry Base project is one of the important measures taken by Huadu District that rely on the District's strong automotive industry to introduce new forms of business of high attractiveness, aiming to polish the image of the District as powerhouse of automotive industry in northern Guangzhou, and to rejuvenate old parts of the District.

Jointly invested by GIIHG and Goldenport Enterprise, the project is located in Tanbu Town, Huadu District, with a planned area of about 40.2 hectares. The former owner of the site was Pearl River Tires Factory, which was once a key tire producer in China. The factory finished its historical task as time passes. It is planned for the project to introduce international car sports events and high-end brands of car modification in Huadu, build four major industrial systems of motorsport races, car testing and data operation and maintenance, car-related entertainment, and personalized customization and modification of car, and create the first motorsport aftermarket industrial base in China and the first production, business and tourism complex themed on motorsport in the Greater Bay Area.

The first phase of the project has its focus on six functional areas: motorsport area, car-themed business area, personalized modification area, brand and customized car experience area, recreation vehicle camping area, and employee supporting facilities area, including comprehensive motorsport venue, car-themed commercial street, themed hotel, car apartment, brand car experience center, RV camping, modification R&D office center, industrial fund investment center, intelligent networked test base and other rich business forms; all for the purpose to let the old site glows with new brilliance.

The relevant leaders of Huadu District observed that Huadu would take this signing as the starting point to join hands with GIIHG and Goldenport Enterprise. On the combined basis of Huadu's deep industrial cluster advantages in the fields of automotive industry technology and supply chain and its foundation of the automotive industry, joint efforts would be made to build the automotive export & intelligent manufacturing base at Huadu Pearl River Tires Factory, promote the formation of automotive culture and related industries, deepen the reform and upgrading of the automotive industry, and help make great again the automotive industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

"Connect" the elements along the whole industry chain

At the event, GIIHG and Goldenport Enterprise signed and intent for cooperation agreements with enterprises and motorsport race organizers that are to settle in the park. Enterprises that are interested in settling in currently cover auto parts, science and technology, and trade, and later motorsport aftermarket industry will be added, "connecting" the elements along the whole industry chain.

"The Greater Bay Area Car Park & Car Modification Industry Base project has bright development prospects in Huadu and will have great achievements!” He Jiandong, standing vice chairman of the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China, is very optimistic about the future of the automotive industry in Huadu District.

Through the organic integration of the sectors of automotive culture, motorsport and automotive industry, the project is committed to building the first motorsport aftermarket industry base in China the first motorsport aftermarket industrial base in China and the first production, business and tourism complex themed on motorsport in the Greater Bay Area, and becoming an exclusive business card of Guangzhou city,”said Jing Guangjun, GIIHG Party Committee Secretary and Chairman.

"Goldenport Enterprise will fully marshal and integrate industry, finance and culture resources, promote the comprehensive development of the project in all aspects, and will continue to explore in-depth cooperation with Huadu District in a wider range of fields, so that we can make more contributions to the sustainable and high-quality development of the District's economy,” said Ye Mingqin, president of Goldenport Enterprise.

FIA World RX is one of the event organizers interested in the project. "We successfully hosted a World RX event in Hong Kong last year, attracting 500 million followers online and offline. It is hoped that we can run our face here Yangcheng Automobile Park in the future. We plan to hold a race event + cultural tourism + industry summit forum and infuse more passion and vitality to the automotive industry ecology in Huadu District,” said Feng Jinghua, the promoter of the FIA World RX in Greater China.

"Explore" a new model for the development of automotive industry

As the largest industry in Guangzhou and the pillar industry of Huadu, the annual output value of the automotive industry in Huadu District accounts for about a quarter of the output value of that in Guangzhou. In order to change from "a single tree" to "a forest of trees", in addition to the largest automotive industry base in South China, another 100 square kilometers of land are assigned, and over 6.7 square kilometers are newly set aside in Huadu, for the development of the automotive industry, which is meant to support the capital increase and capacity expansion of existing high-quality core parts enterprises, and to quickly finalize the introduction of new high-quality projects. The District is striving to build the largest intelligent networked vehicle industry base in China, actively introduce and cultivate new industrial momentum, and promote the formation of a 250 billion-level automotive industry cluster.

Last year, Huadu took a number of big moves and achieved a great deal. Dongfeng Nissan became the fastest car company in China to sell its 15 millionth car, and the only joint venture to do so, and it saw in the year the first new car on the new pure electric platform, the Venucia VX6, rolling off the assembly line of mass-production; ZF Group, the world's leading auto parts company, and a Fortune Global 500 company, opened its Guangzhou Technology Center, and commenced the construction of a 10-billion-level automotive electronics factory; a contract for automotive experience center was signed with world-class car company KPS; and Didi Autonomous Driving's Guangzhou Huiju Port was officially completed; and a contract was signed with the LiDAR "Little Giant" Benewake for its high-performance LiDAR R&D center and national headquarters base.

The emerge of the first production, business and tourism complex themed on motorsport in the Greater Bay Area speaks loudly of Huadu's active efforts in introduction, cultivation and exploration of new models for the development of the automotive industry, in promotion of the formation of a new energy and intelligent networked vehicle ecosystem, and in acceleration of transition to the new track of high-quality development of the automotive industry.

In the future, the rejuvenated Pearl River Tires Factory will interact with GIIHG's auto parts industry chain, give full play to the professional advantages of Goldenport Enterprise, promote the synergistic effect of complementary advantages, and drive the cultivation and clustering of the automotive aftermarket industry through motorsport, so as to help Huadu District build a national new energy and intelligent networked automotive industry cluster, improve Guangzhou's automotive industry chain, and enhance the global influence of Guangzhou's automotive industry.
